On Friday, FC Porto secured a huge 1-2 away victory over rivals Benfica, with keeper Iker Casillas playing a key role in the victory. With the loss, Benfica dropped to second place, three points behind new leaders Sporting CP.
On Saturday evening, Chelsea easily defeated struggling Newcastle United 5-1. Pedro scored twice help his side secure the three points.
Then on Sunday, FC Barcelona had five second half goals to defeat Celta Vigo 6-1 and keep their lead atop La Liga. Luis Suárez finished the match with three goals and two assists.
