On Saturday, Werder Bremen defeated Eintracht Frankfurt by the score of 1-0 and avoided a potential relegation playoff battle. Keeper Felix Wiedwald played the hero, earning the clean sheet. Although Bremen avoided the relegation playoff, Eintracht Frankfurt finished in 16^th spot and now must defeat 1. FC Nürnberg to stay in the 1. Bundesliga.

Gonzalo Higuaín made Serie A history on Saturday when he scored a hat-trick in Napoli’s 4-0 win over relegated Frosinone. With those three goals, he became the first player in Italy to score 36 goals in a single season, breaking the previous tally of 35.

On Sunday, SL Benfica retained the Liga NOS title for the third straight season following their 4-1 win over Nacional. Nicolás Gaitán played the hero, scoring twice and assisting on another.

Olivier Giroud’s scored three times as Arsenal ended their season with a 4-0 victory over relegated Aston Villa. Giroud finishes the season leading the club with 16 goals while Arsenal finished the season in second place.
